First Visit
Willamette Valley Cancer Center recognizes that the first visit to the center will be somewhat intimidating and frightening. Knowing what to expect should help alleviate those fears. Please plan to arrive at the center 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment with the doctor.
Upon arrival at the center you will meet first with a patient service representative who will go over your insurance information and have you sign needed documents. Please bring a copy of your insurance card with you. You will then be escorted to the next place of service. At this point you will meet with a nurse or medical assistant. She will prepare you for the visit with the physician. Your physician will spend time going over your medical history and will do a physical exam. Your oncologist will then explain the status of your disease and, if necessary, treatment options. Many patients find bringing a list of written questions helps them to remember to ask the questions they want answered.
Many insurance plans require a prior authorization prior to any treatment. Should you need treatment, and if your insurance requires a prior authorization, your treatment will be scheduled accordingly. |
